Had the pleasure of designing the poster for The Christmas Party, a short film written and directed by Victor DeBianchi and Sidney Butler. A twist on the classic “whodunnit”, this short film is told in the style of Instagram videos where a hipster Christmas Party goes awry when a partygoer is suspiciously murdered.
For this poster, I envisioned ornaments hanging on a Christmas tree, each one featuring a different cast member. The murder victim is centrally located on a red ornament, and the detective on a unique magnifying glass shaped ornament. After watching the film, I had an idea of the characters’ various personalities, so I was able to create an image of their likenesses. My style for this poster is realistic, with a fun painterly stroke that doesn’t feel too photographic, and it was fun to blend the people and the shading of their respective ornaments.
