“The Killing Joke” Monologue from Everett Aldrich on Vimeo.
The Joker is one of my favorite characters in the DC Universe. In the iconic graphic novel “The Killing Joke”, Alan Moore explores one of the possible backstories for the character. Within the twisted story, The Joker tries to prove his point to Batman that anyone can go insane, and that all it takes is “one bad day”. I wanted to try my hand at facial animations in Maya since it had been a while since I last tried. My primary goal for this project was to convey more emotion on The Joker’s face, since that had been one of my criticisms on previous attempts. With Mark Hamill’s legendary voice, I felt I could really achieve my goal. This was my end result.
Through this process, I learned Maya Deformers, Rigging, Hair(Finally!), and while I’ve used Normal Maps in the past, I felt extremely proud of them this time around!
